The Self Assessment online filing deadline always follows hot on the heels of the festive season.  Previously if you didn't owe any tax then the £100 penalty would be waived.  This is no longer the case so on time filing by 31 January 2012 is essential! Also many businesses who have had major capital spends may be taking advantage of the annual investment allowance, if this reduces your profits compared with this year - you may be entitled claim a reduction on your payment on account!
